Complete Triumph Speedmaster guide: generations and accessories

The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is the neo-retro cruiser of the Bonneville family: 1200 HT engine, 16-inch front wheel, forward controls and a removable pillion seat. This complete guide covers its generations from 2018 to 2026, its specifications and the compatible accessories from FCR Accessoires, the online store of the FCR Original workshop in Chauvigny, France, which built the Speedmaster pictured in this article.

The Triumph Speedmaster at a glance

Launched in 2018, the Speedmaster takes the base of the Triumph Bobber (frame, 1200 HT engine, hidden monoshock) and makes it a more welcoming motorcycle. Where the Bobber remains a radical single-seater, the Speedmaster adds a removable pillion seat, a 12-litre tank, forward controls and a beach bar style handlebar that opens up the riding position.

The result is a British-style cruiser, at home on weekend rides and daily trips alike, with torque available very low in the rev range. It is also a particularly rich base for customisation: it shares many parts with the Bobber, which opens up a wide choice of accessories, all gathered in our Triumph Speedmaster accessories collection.

Triumph Speedmaster generations from 2018 to 2026

2018 to 2020: the neo-retro cruiser

The first Speedmaster lays the foundations: 1200 HT engine, forward controls, 12-litre tank, 16-inch front wheel, twin front discs, hidden rear shock and removable pillion parts. It establishes itself as the comfortable counterpart to the Bobber, with a strong Heritage identity.

2021 to 2024: Euro 5 and a step upmarket

The switch to Euro 5 comes with comfort and finish upgrades: a new seat, a stiffer 47 mm Showa fork and a more premium presentation. The silhouette stays true to the original spirit, which keeps most accessories compatible.

2025: continuity

The 2025 model year carries the previous generation forward. Changes mainly concern colours and finishing details, with no change to the technical base.

2026 onwards: a new generation

From 2026, the Speedmaster enters a new generation with revised electronics and bodywork. These technical changes call for a family of accessories distinct from that of the 2018 to 2025 Speedmasters: compatibility has to be checked part by part.

Generation Positioning Key points
2018 to 2020 Heritage cruiser 1200 HT, forward controls, 12 l tank, 16" front wheel
2021 to 2024 Premium cruiser Euro 5, new seat, 47 mm Showa fork
2025 Heritage Premium Technical continuity, new colours and finishes
2026 onwards Modern cruiser Updated electronics and bodywork

The FCR Original workshop build

The Speedmaster in this guide was built by the FCR Original workshop in Chauvigny, using only parts available on FCR Accessoires. The goal: lighten the bike visually, strengthen its neo-retro character and keep it fully usable every day. All these parts fit 2018 to 2025 Speedmasters.

Workshop tip

Start with the parts that change the silhouette (headlight, radiator grill, fuel cap) before touching the chassis. That way you can judge the visual balance of the bike step by step.

Triumph Speedmaster accessories by use

Here is the full range of FCR Accessoires parts compatible with the Speedmaster, grouped by what they bring to the bike.

Intake and filter maintenance

The K&N air filter kit replaces the original airbox with exposed cone filters that open up the engine. They can be cleaned and reused with the K&N cleaning kit.

Triumph Speedmaster FAQ

What is the difference between the Triumph Speedmaster and the Triumph Bobber?

Both models share the Bonneville 1200 HT engine and much of the chassis. The Bobber is a stripped-back, radical single-seater, while the Speedmaster is a more versatile neo-retro cruiser: removable pillion seat, forward controls, 12-litre tank and a more relaxed riding position for two-up riding or long distances.

Do Triumph Bobber accessories fit the Speedmaster?

Many do, because the platform is shared. The sump guard, K&N air filter kit, chain guard, extended radiator grill and belt drive kit listed on FCR Accessoires fit the Speedmaster 1200. Always check your model year on the product page or with our team.

What are the generations of the Triumph Speedmaster 1200?

There is the 2018 to 2020 generation (launch, Bonneville 1200 HT base), the 2021 to 2024 generation (Euro 5, 47 mm Showa fork, premium finishes), the 2025 model year which carries this base forward with new colours, and a new generation from 2026 with updated electronics and bodywork.

Are FCR Accessoires parts compatible with the 2026 Speedmaster?

The accessories in this guide fit Speedmasters from 2018 to 2025. The 2026 generation changes several technical points, so compatibility has to be confirmed part by part. Contact our team with your model year and VIN before ordering.

Which accessories should I fit first on a Speedmaster?

The most visible parts for the least effort: a machined fuel cap, a radiator grill, a Bates headlight and new mirrors. They transform the silhouette in an afternoon and fit on the original mounting points.

Can I fit a lower handlebar on the Triumph Speedmaster?

Yes. The 25.4 mm Black Bobber handlebar reshapes the riding position and the front end. Depending on the position you choose, cable length can become tight, which is why we also offer a Teflon-lined Venhill clutch cable.

Do I need a workshop to fit Speedmaster accessories?

Most cosmetic parts (fuel cap, grilles, mirrors, chain guard, sump guard) can be fitted with standard tools. Brake, suspension, triple tree and belt drive parts should be fitted by a professional, such as the FCR Original workshop in Chauvigny, France.

How do I maintain a Speedmaster fitted with K&N filters?

K&N filters are washable and reusable. Cleaning them with the K&N cleaning kit (cleaner, then oil), at intervals that depend on use and conditions, keeps airflow and engine protection at their best.
