The radiator sits low and exposed at the front of the bike, and a single stone can bend a fin or pierce the core, leading to a leak and a risk of overheating, with a costly repair at stake. A guard acts as a shield that stops debris while letting the cooling air through, and it also dresses the front of the bike. On the BMW R NineT, the radiator guard with side returns signed FCR Original provides this protection while showing an in-house cut-out pattern.

No, a well-designed radiator guard does not cause overheating. The cut-outs are sized to let through as much air as possible while blocking solid debris, so the open area makes up most of the guard and the airflow stays very close to that of a bare radiator. A quality guard adds mechanical protection without restricting the cooling. The guard with side returns we offer for the BMW R NineT is cut in this spirit: maximum protection, preserved airflow.

This guard is compatible with the BMW R nineT range with the 2-valve boxer engine (R nineT, Pure, Scrambler, Urban G/S, Racer, /5). It mounts on the radiator's original points, with no modification. This guard stands out for its side returns: instead of covering only the front face of the radiator, it extends along the sides for more wrap-around protection. In practice, gravel and debris arriving at an angle are also caught, whereas a flat guard leaves the sides exposed. Its FCR Original cut-out pattern also differs from our flat guard. It is the option to choose for the fullest coverage of your R NineT's radiator.

This radiator guard is available in two finishes: Black and Brushed. The Black finish gives a discreet, deep look that blends into the front of the bike, while the Brushed finish highlights the aluminium with a satin metallic look. Both are aluminium and share the same FCR Original cut-out pattern.

This radiator guard is made of aluminium and weighs just 100 g. It measures 268 mm long, 155.5 mm high and 41 mm deep at the side returns. Aluminium provides lightness and corrosion resistance, and the guard is designed, tested and packed in our FCR Original workshop.
