Wide inverted fork kit for the Triumph Bobber and Speedmaster 1200: a massive front end, tyres up to 180 and Brembo M50 braking

This inverted fork kit was designed by the FCR Original workshop to radically transform the front end of the Triumph Bobber and Speedmaster 1200 from 2022 onwards. It replaces the original conventional fork with a wide inverted fork, for a muscular bobber silhouette and a far stronger presence, in the spirit of the most accomplished custom builds.

Its first strength is width: the spacing of the yokes allows a front tyre up to 180 section to be fitted, for a fat front look that is impossible with the stock fork. The kit keeps the original wheel hub, as well as the headlight, clocks and handlebar, so the build stays consistent with the bike's identity without multiplying the parts to change.

The kit is built around Triumph Thruxton R inverted fork legs, combined with yokes and connecting parts machined by our workshop from 7075 aluminium, one of the strongest alloys, and a 316L stainless steel wheel axle. Braking is handled by two Brembo M50 radial calipers and two Moto-Master floating discs, for bite and feel that match the new chassis.

The kit is supplied complete, with stainless hardware and a matching front fender. Fitting, however, is an expert-level job: complete removal of the front end, fitting of the fork, brakes and wheel, bleeding and checking of the settings. It must be entrusted to a qualified workshop. The conversion remains reversible: the original fork can be refitted. The front wheel is not included.

❯ What is the benefit of an inverted fork on a motorcycle?

An inverted fork places the large tubes at the top, in the yokes, and the slimmer sliders at the bottom. This layout is stiffer in torsion, which improves front-end precision under braking and in corners, and reduces unsprung mass. On a custom bike, it also gives a more massive, modern front end that is highly sought after on bobber builds.

❯ Can you fit a wide front tyre to a Triumph Bobber?

Not with the original fork, whose spacing limits tyre width. To fit a wider front tyre, up to 180 section, you need a wider fork such as this inverted fork kit, combined with a front rim suited to that width. It is the basis of the fat bobber look.

❯ Is this kit compatible with my bike?

It is designed for the Triumph Bonneville Bobber 1200 and Speedmaster 1200 from 2022 onwards. It keeps the original wheel hub, headlight, clocks and handlebar. The front wheel is not included. For an earlier model year or a special version, contact us before ordering.

❯ Is fitting difficult?

Yes, it is an expert-level job. It involves complete removal of the front end, fitting the fork and yokes, installing the Brembo brakes, bleeding the system and refitting the wheel, with torque and setting checks. It must be entrusted to a qualified workshop. Our workshop in Chauvigny, France, can carry out the fitting by appointment.

Replacing the fork is a chassis modification. Depending on the country, it may require an individual approval procedure or validation by an approved body before any road use. Check with the relevant authorities before fitting; our team can point you in the right direction.

❯ Which front wheel should I use with this kit?

The kit reuses the Bobber's original hub, but the wheel is not included. To make the most of the fork's width with a tyre up to 180, you need a suitable front rim. Contact our team to define the wheel and tyre best suited to your project.
