Hyperpro progressive fork spring kit for the BMW R12 G/S: less dive under braking and more comfort, on road and trail

This Hyperpro progressive fork spring kit was selected by FCR Accessoires for the BMW R12 G/S from 2025 onwards. A Dutch suspension specialist, Hyperpro designs springs for each specific model: this kit replaces the original fork springs to give the G/S a more consistent front end, whether you ride on the road, tour fully loaded or head off the tarmac.

Its first benefit is control. The progressive springs limit fork dive under braking and stabilise the bike's attitude, keeping the front end precise on corner entry and under hard braking. Off-road, they handle repeated compressions better without bottoming out, while staying supple over small bumps.

Hyperpro's signature is the variable-pitch spring: the gap between the coils changes along the spring. The softer section soaks up small bumps for comfort, while the firmer section takes over as the load increases, under braking, in compression or with a passenger and luggage. The result is a fork that is both more comfortable and more composed than stock.

The kit is sold as a pair, with the Hyperpro SAE 15 fork oil needed for the oil change. Fitting replaces the original springs without modifying the fork and remains reversible. It is, however, a complete fork oil change that requires the oil level recommended by Hyperpro to be followed precisely: we recommend having it done by a workshop.

Hyperpro springs come with a lifetime manufacturer warranty. For balanced handling, this kit can be paired with a Hyperpro rear spring. A simple, effective upgrade to get the most out of your R12 G/S.

❯ Why replace a motorcycle's fork springs?

Replacing fork springs lets you match the front end to the rider's weight, load and riding style. Progressive springs such as Hyperpro's limit dive under braking, improve stability and comfort, and sharpen the steering. It is one of the most effective suspension upgrades for a modest cost, without replacing the fork.

❯ What is the difference between a linear and a progressive spring?

A linear spring has evenly spaced coils and a constant rate throughout its travel. A progressive spring has a variable pitch: it is soft at the start of its travel to absorb small bumps, then firms up as the load increases, under braking or in compression. It combines comfort and control, which suits a dual-purpose road and trail bike well.

❯ Is this kit compatible with my bike?

This Hyperpro kit is designed for the BMW R12 G/S from 2025 onwards. It does not fit the BMW R12 nineT or the BMW R nineT, for which we offer dedicated kits. If in doubt about your version, contact us before ordering.

❯ How is a fork spring kit fitted?

Fitting is a complete fork oil change: removing the fork tubes, draining the original oil, replacing the springs, then refilling with the supplied Hyperpro oil to the level shown in the manual, tube by tube. Getting the oil level right is essential for the fork to work properly. We recommend having this done by a workshop.

❯ Should I also change the rear shock?

It is not mandatory, but Hyperpro recommends equipping the front and rear consistently for balanced handling. If you often ride loaded or two-up, a suitable rear spring or shock will complement this fork kit effectively. Our team can advise you based on your riding.

❯ Which oil should I use for future fork services?

Use Hyperpro fork oil of the same viscosity (SAE 15), at the level recommended in the manual. This viscosity is matched to the Hyperpro springs: changing it would alter the fork's behaviour.
