The Le Billet fuel cap for Triumph Modern Classic was designed to replace the standard cap with a billet-machined part whose finish is more coherent with the range's aesthetic. On Bonneville, Speed Twin, Scrambler, Street and Thruxton, the original cap remains one of the first elements identified for personalisation, due to its direct visibility on the tank and its immediate impact on the overall look of the motorcycle.
Three finishes are available to fit different aesthetic approaches. The Gold version is machined from aviation-grade brass, a dense and noble material that develops a natural patina over time. The Black and Silver versions are machined from 6061T aluminium, an alloy recognised for its mechanical resistance and durability under motorcycle operating conditions. Each finish goes through a surface treatment that guarantees the longevity of its visual appearance.
The cap integrates a spring valve system connected to three vents distributed on its upper part. This device ensures controlled evacuation of tank pressure and prevents any risk of over-pressure or priming loss, particularly during prolonged parking in sunlight or significant thermal variations. A fuel-resistant O-ring guarantees complete sealing of the assembly.
Grip is facilitated by precise knurling on the flanks of the upper cap, which remains accessible even in wet conditions or when wearing gloves. The lower thread ensures solid retention without excessive tightening force. The 79 mm diameter exactly matches the Triumph original diameter, for a direct replacement fitting without modification to the tank.

This cap is compatible with the entire Triumph Modern Classic range: Bonneville T100, T120, Bobber, Bobber Black, Speedmaster, Thruxton, Thruxton RS, Street Twin, Street Scrambler, Street Cup, Speed Twin 900, Speed Twin 1200, Scrambler 900, Scrambler 1200 X and Scrambler 1200 XE. Its 79 mm diameter matches the exact Triumph original diameter.
The Gold finish is machined from aviation-grade brass, a dense material that develops a natural patina over time. It is the most refined finish, favoured on classic café racer or vintage neo-retro builds. The Black and Silver finishes are machined from 6061T aluminium, an alloy recognised for its mechanical resistance. The Black finish integrates with darker builds (Bonneville Bobber Black, black Speed Twin). The Silver finish offers a natural aluminium appearance close to chrome, coherent with lighter Modern Classic builds.
Fitting is a direct replacement for the original cap. Simply unscrew the original cap counter-clockwise, remove it and screw the new Le Billet cap in its place. No modification, no specific tooling, no drilling is required. The knurled flanks allow effortless manual tightening. The operation takes less than a minute.
A motorcycle fuel tank is subject to significant pressure variations depending on outside temperature and fuel consumption. Without a ventilation system, this pressure can either become too high (risk of fuel pump priming loss or leakage) or too low (risk of tank deformation). The Le Billet cap integrates a spring valve connected to three vents that automatically regulate this pressure, while preventing water, dust and splashes from entering the tank. The O-ring completes the system by guaranteeing total sealing against fuel vapours.
Brass is a living material that naturally develops a patina over time, depending on exposure, humidity and usage frequency. This evolution is sought after by many owners of vintage or café racer builds, as it gives the cap a unique character and its own personality. If you prefer to maintain the original bright appearance, regular maintenance with a dedicated metal product slows or reverses this patina.
Yes. Installation is fully reversible. Simply unscrew the Le Billet cap and refit the original cap. No alteration to the tank is made during fitting. Remember to keep the original cap if you plan a future resale.
