Change the riding posture of your BMW R18 with these steel handlebars signed by FCR Original. Lowered position for more comfort, original switchgear retained, drilled for the original cables. Drilling for the switchgear required at installation.
The riding position entirely shapes the relationship between the rider and the motorcycle. On a BMW R18, changing the handlebars means changing the whole posture, the allure and the feel at the controls. This is why our builders designed these handlebars in our FCR Original workshop, a part that reinvents the riding position of the R18.
The choice is that of a lowered posture. These handlebars, wide and low, subtly change the rider's position by bringing them closer to the motorcycle, in the spirit of low and compact builds. The R18 gains a sharper silhouette, and the rider a posture that matches the identity of the machine.
This lower posture is not only a matter of style. By rethinking the ergonomics of the riding position, these handlebars reduce fatigue on long journeys and make every ride more comfortable. The position becomes more natural, more in tune with the character of the motorcycle, for an enhanced riding pleasure.
The handlebars are made of steel, a material chosen for its robustness and its resistance, a guarantee of reliability for a part that directly bears the stresses of riding. They are designed to integrate with the original installation: they retain the original switchgear, they are drilled for the routing of the original cables, and their ends are threaded to receive the original handlebar end weights. This concern for compatibility significantly simplifies the installation and avoids complex modifications of the wiring.
One point deserves your attention: the handlebars are not pre-drilled for the fixing of the switchgear. The installation therefore requires drilling two holes, adjusting their position according to the stud of your switchgear, as detailed in the instructions provided. It is an operation to carry out with care, or to entrust to a professional.
Each set of handlebars is designed, inspected and packaged in our FCR Original workshop, in Chauvigny. This part was born from our practice of premium building, conceived by our builders with the same care given to our exceptional motorcycles. It is this demand, from the drawing to the parcel, that sets apart a part signed FCR Original.

Changing motorcycle handlebars consists of removing the original handlebars to install a new set, retaining or not the existing controls. The first step is to protect the surfaces and note the original assembly. The clamps that hold the handlebars on the fork yoke are then loosened, and the handlebars released. The switchgear, that is, the control blocks, are then repositioned on the new handlebars: depending on the model, their fixing may require drilling. The cables and harnesses must be routed correctly, with no pinching or excessive tension. Once the handlebars are fixed and the controls in place, a check of the correct operation of the whole is essential before riding again. As the handlebars are part of the steering, it is an operation to carry out with care. Our handlebars FCR Original for BMW R18 come with detailed assembly instructions.
A drag bar is a type of motorcycle handlebar characterised by a low and wide shape, with little or no rise. Inherited from the custom and racing culture, the drag bar lowers the rider's posture and brings the buste closer to the motorcycle, for a more engaged and assertive riding position. It is a popular choice on cruiser and custom builds, where it sharpens the silhouette and reinforces the character of the motorcycle. Beyond style, a drag bar changes the ergonomics of the riding position: the posture becomes lower, which suits some riders and some types of use. Our handlebars FCR Original for BMW R18 adopt this low and wide profile, to lower the riding posture of the motorcycle.
Yes, these handlebars are designed for the entire BMW R18 range: R18 Standard, Classic, B, Transcontinental, Roctane and 100 Years. They fit in replacement of the original handlebars and retain the original switchgear. They are not compatible with other BMW families such as the R nineT or the R12, which rely on a different architecture. If you have a doubt about your model year or version, our team checks compatibility with you before ordering at 05 49 62 03 26.
The installation is done in replacement of the original handlebars. Here are the main steps: 1. Protect the handlebars from damage during the operation, then loosely fit the clamps. 2. Slide the original switchgear onto the handlebars. 3. Drill the two Ø3.5 mm holes needed to fix the switchgear, adjusting their position according to the stud of your switchgear. 4. Pass the cables through the handlebars, via the oblong holes, bringing them out through the central hole. 5. Fix the handlebars with the clamps, fit the switchgear, then fit the end weights with the M12x80 socket-head cap screws. The complete assembly instructions accompany the product. Drilling is a delicate step: if you are not equipped or comfortable, we recommend entrusting the installation to a professional.
Yes, this point deserves particular attention: these handlebars are not pre-drilled for the fixing of the original switchgear. During installation, you must drill two Ø3.5 mm holes, one for the left switchgear and one for the right. The exact position of these holes is determined according to the fixing stud of your switchgear, which guarantees a correct positioning. The assembly instructions detail this operation. On the other hand, the handlebars are already drilled for the routing of the original cables: only the drilling of the switchgear is to be carried out. If you are not equipped to drill cleanly, it is preferable to entrust this step to a professional.
Yes, these handlebars are designed to retain the original switchgear of your BMW R18, that is, the complete control blocks. The switchgear groups the buttons and switches operated without letting go of the handlebars: turn signals, horn, lights, starter. The handlebars are also drilled for the routing of the original cables, and their ends are threaded to receive the original handlebar end weights. This compatibility has been thought out to simplify the installation: you do not have to replace the controls or modify the electrical harness. The only specific operation remains the drilling of the switchgear fixing holes, detailed in the instructions.
