Frequently asked questions about THE Vic Sun | Brett Sunglasses

What is the difference between the Vic Sun and the Chuck Sun?

The Vic Sun and Chuck Sun share the same acetate and 304 stainless steel construction but differ by their format and stylistic posture. The Chuck Sun is large format (57 mm lens size) with a more assertive design and more pronounced angles inspired by 70s TV series. The Vic Sun is medium format (53 mm lens size) with a more discreet and versatile design. The Vic is the recommended choice for medium faces or for those seeking more all-purpose sunglasses suited to all contexts.

Which colour to choose among the six available?

The choice mainly depends on your wardrobe and the visual universe of your motorcycle. The Crystal / Silver and Honey Tortoise are the most versatile colours that match all outfits. The Black / Silver and Gradient Black / Silver are the most all-purpose choices for an assertive café racer look. The Blue / Silver is sophisticated and particularly successful on blue motorcycles. The Green / Copper brings a bold and warm contrast, ideal for neo-retro builds. In case of hesitation, the FCR Accessoires team can advise you.

What is a gradient on polarized lenses?

On gradient lenses (Gradient Black / Silver colour of the Vic Sun), the tint is darker at the top of the lens and progressively lightens towards the bottom. This allows better protection against direct sunlight (upper part) while maintaining good visibility towards close elements (dashboard, ground). The gradient remains compatible with the polarizing function of the Divel lenses: protection against reflections is maintained across the entire surface.

Are the Vic Sun really comfortable under a helmet?

Yes. The 304 stainless steel temples of the Vic Sun are ultra-thin and flexible, specifically designed to slip under a helmet without creating pressure on the temples. The medium format (53 mm lens size) also does not exceed the helmet opening on most Hedon, Bell, Shoei helmets and standard open-face helmets. It is one of the most universally helmet-compatible Brett models.

Which size to choose and how to know if they suit my face?

The Vic Sun comes in medium format (53 mm lens size), suited to narrow to medium faces (width between temples between 130 and 140 mm). The 19 mm bridge is particularly suited to people with a strong nose or marked spacing between the eyes. For a wider face, other Brett models such as the Chuck Sun or Ed Sun (large format) will be more suitable. For a very narrow face, smaller models are available. The FCR Accessoires team can advise you in case of hesitation.

What is the difference between acetate and standard plastic?

Acetate is a cellulose-based material, considered the high-end reference in eyewear. It offers a depth of colour and tactile quality that injection-moulded plastic cannot match. Acetate is also more resistant to thermal deformation, more stable over time, and allows for complex finishes (marbled, transparent, gradient materials). It is the material used by the great French and Italian eyewear houses.
