Complete Guide: Everything you need to know about the Triumph Bobber

The Triumph Bobber is one of the most iconic models in Triumph's Modern Classics range. Since its launch in 2017, the Bonneville Bobber has captivated motorcycle enthusiasts with its raw, minimalist, and resolutely vintage style. But what makes it so unique? How can you customize it into an even more singular machine? And what are the best Triumph Bobber custom options available today?

FCR Accessories, a French specialist in neo-retro motorcycle parts for over 10 years, brings you a complete guide: technical specifications, transformation possibilities, custom bobber Triumph builds, and expert advice.

The Triumph Bobber: a neo-retro icon

Inspired by the American bobber movement of the 1940s–50s, the Triumph Bonneville Bobber stands out with its low stance, stripped-back look, and solo riding position. Sitting somewhere between a classic Triumph chopper and a modern motorcycle, it embodies a timeless style backed by Triumph's engineering reliability.

Its 1200cc parallel twin "High Torque" engine delivers 77 horsepower and a generous 106 Nm of torque from just 4,000 rpm, providing smooth acceleration and immediate riding pleasure. The 270° crankshaft gives the engine a distinctive sound and character that sets it apart from conventional twins.

What sets the Triumph Bobber apart at first glance:

  • Floating single-seat aluminium saddle with adjustable height
  • Hidden rear shock beneath the engine for a clean hardtail look
  • 47mm Showa cartridge forks with 90mm travel
  • Twin 310mm front discs with Brembo calipers
  • Two riding modes (Road, Rain) with switchable traction control
  • LED headlight, cruise control and ABS as standard

Why choose a Triumph Bobber?

The Bobber's success rests on a rare balance between authenticity and modernity. It appeals to seasoned riders and newcomers alike, delivering strong character straight from the showroom floor.

Raw, timeless style

The Triumph Bobber silhouette is unmistakable: sculptural fuel tank, short fender, wire-spoke wheels, and that famous floating seat that creates a taut, aggressive line. Where a classic chopper stretches proportions, the bobber compresses and hardens them. It's a motorcycle of personal expression — a rolling statement.

Real-world performance

The 1200 High Torque engine is more than a pretty piece of engineering. Its 106 Nm of low-down torque delivers punchy acceleration in town and on the open road. The chassis is composed in daily riding, with effective braking and predictable handling. Service intervals are every 10,000 miles, making it an affordable bike to own.

Exceptional customization potential

This is arguably the Bobber's greatest strength: every element can be reworked and transformed. Tank, handlebars, exhaust, lighting, seat — everything is designed to be accessible and modifiable. Triumph's Modern Classics platform is one of the best-supported in the aftermarket world.

FAQ: common questions about the Triumph Bobber

What's the difference between the Bonneville Bobber and the Bobber Black?+
The Bobber Black was a sportier, more aggressive version produced until 2023, featuring inverted Showa forks, upgraded Brembo brakes, blacked-out rims, and a darker aesthetic. From 2024 onwards, Triumph merged both versions, bringing the Black's spec into the standard model.
Are FCR Accessories exhausts road legal?+
Yes. Our exhaust systems are supplied with a removable DB Killer baffle to meet noise regulations. Without the DB Killer, the sound is more open and characterful — but intended for track or off-road use only.
What are the delivery times?+
3 to 10 business days, shipped from our workshop in Poitiers, France. We deliver across Europe and internationally, with full tracking on every order.
Do I need a mechanic to fit the parts?+
Most of our parts are plug & play with standard tools. Each product comes with fitting instructions. For more ambitious projects (full exhaust system, rear loop kit), a motorcycle workshop is recommended.
Can you turn a Triumph Bobber into a café racer?+
Absolutely — it's one of the most popular Triumph Bobber custom builds. Swapping the handlebars for clip-ons or a drag bar, adding a flat seat and a flyscreen gives you a café racer stance on the Bobber platform. The Bonneville architecture makes this kind of transformation straightforward thanks to its simple mounting points.
Can you ride two-up on a Triumph Bobber?+
No. The Bobber is homologated as a single-seat motorcycle. Triumph's official two-up alternative is the Bonneville Speedmaster, which shares the same 1200 High Torque engine but comes with a dual seat, passenger footpegs, and a backrest.
